I’m a bit apoplectic over the deep ocean oil geyser in the Gulf of Mexico. I can’t tell whether or not it is “bad enough.” Sure, I hope they get it under control, but how fast? Is a million gallons enough, a million barrels, 10 million barrels? What is it going to take for the corporatists to feel a backlash from the people? The minute the well was offered to BP, the “Greens” were unhappy, but they’re powerless in DC. Most of us thought immediately of the “rough-necks” and their families after the explosion. But just how many of us thought “this could be worse” than the spill in the Alaskan Sound or even remembered the spill of the coast of Southern California (obviously someone reminded da Govern-ator ), or know why piracy in Africa is a growth sector in the labor force (mega-transnational corporations have ruined the fishing there as well). The faster we can stop using petrolium for transportation the better. Gosh, maybe that silly southern peanut farmer was right after all, huh?
I wonder what fury a scorned Mother Earth will have?
